Wedding Shot Wednesdays

Most of the time, I am a fan of genuinely simple wedding photography that is easy to digest and showcases the love between the couple but sometimes creative photographs that showcases how much of a genius the wedding photographer really is can also capture my eye. Like the one below:
Pure genius photography by Mark Brooke taken via Junebug Weddings. Sure as hell made me want to try it sometime in the near future.

Wedding Shot Wednesdays

This week's post of Wedding Shot Wednesday is actually somewhat related to yesterday's post about wedding send offs. We mentioned sparklers and ribbon wands but if you really wanna go all out, and I mean REALLY all out, why don't you have a hot air balloon as your getaway vehicle?
Below are some pictures from Jose Villa that could give you an idea of how that would work. Jose Villa did such an awesome job with the photography, don't you think?

Wedding Shots Wednesday

Readers! Apologies for the lack of posts during the past week as we had a 1QL mini weekend getaway! Yes, that's right, we went to the island of gods to rest our bodies and clear our minds. And we are back in full force starting today. Hopefully, our day jobs won't interfere with our plan to post beautiful things.
And thus, it is once again a Wednesday and we shall (or at least hope to) blow you away with these wedding shots below inspired by a bride's veil.

Let's all hope and pray that we get a wedding photographer that can capture us in our veils like Erin Reed and Punam Bean can.

Engaged - Boyke and Ike

We are so happy for our friends Ike and Boyke for their engagement!  Boyke and Ike are so cute together that even their names rhyme! They had a traditional Indonesian engagement session and will be followed by a traditional wedding next month. Traditional weddings are always nice to feature since it is full of pretty little details! I would imagine it to be a wedding photographer's dream come true to shoot all those details.
Their engagement session is shot by The Photograph and we think they did a great job in capturing the essence of the day - happiness between two families!

Don't you just love Ike's kebaya? Beautiful!

Here's a little story from our friend, the bride-to-be about her engagement:
Boyke and I met at work 2 years ago, but we did not started dating until early this year when he finally contacted me and asked me out. We officially started dating in April 2010 and 2 months later, he asked me to marry him!
The engagement party was held at my house in September. It was a private engagement session with only our families attending. Boyke's family came to my house to officially ask my Dad's permission for my hand in marriage. It is tradition in Indonesia for the groom-to-be to bring some "seserahan" as a symbol and we also exchanged rings.
Our solemnization (Akad Nikah) is in November but our reception will be held early next year. And to honor both traditions of our family, we will be using a Palembang tradition for our Akad Nikah, and Javanese tradition for our reception.
We chose The Photograph to document our engagement because a friend recommended them to us. And after meeting them at a wedding expo, we found that they are so very cooperative, professional and nice! I am really really satisfied with the results on my engagement day and cannot wait for them to document our Akad Nikah and reception!

Congratulations Ike and Boyke!
Be sure to check out The Photograph's website and facebook page for more of their lovely work!

Featured Wedding Photographer - Ira Lippke

Here at 1QL, we are not only inspired by beautiful things but also by beautiful people all around the world. But when you come across a beautiful person that also creates beautiful things... then it's a no brainer that they are worthy to be mentioned here in 1QL.

Ira Lippke is a world renowned wedding photographer, has received many awards and has shot weddings all around the world! His photos are simply stunning, check out some of his work below!

Junebug Weddings recently featured him in a full fledged interview. When I read the interview, I was very moved because he mentioned that his all time favorite wedding location was a wedding that he shot in Bingin Beach, Bali. Coming from a renowned photographer that has basically seen and shot photographs most of the world, that is HUGE.
Check out the full interview here

Aside from shooting astonishing weddings, Ira does a lot of humanitarian work. Believe it or not, Ira was one of the first westerners that went to Banda Aceh in December 2004 as a volunteer right after the Tsunami occurred. Wow!! This was mentioned in the interview with Junebug Weddings, as well. I was truly humbled by this fact. Being an Indonesian, I've never even been to the ground zero of Tsunami in Banda Aceh!

If you want to see their full journey, click here

So, if you are looking for a prominent wedding photographer, consider Ira Lippke and you'll be glad to know that you're not only hiring a professional photographer, but also you will be contributing to his humanitarian work as well.

Wedding Shots Wednesday

After being stuck in traffic for 1.5 hours just to go about 1 km, I badly needed me a dose of beautiful wedding pictures!

These two pictures I thought are just SO creative. It might not be your conventional wedding picture, but for the photographer (Carla Ten Eyck) to be able to pull a picture like this, shows how talented she really is!

What do you guys think?

Featured Wedding Photographer - Our Labor of Love

Ok, it's probably pretty obvious by now that we love GOOD, and only GOOD wedding photography here at 1QL. Though we are trying to promote local wedding photographers in our blog but I just have to share with you all one wedding photographer that blows our mind with their images. Our Labor of Love is a husband and wife team of wedding photographers based in Atlanta, GA, USA. I was originally introduced to their work by my sister who was looking for a photographer to capture her wedding day pics back in 2008. I was blown away by their amazing work and have been following their blog ever since.

OLOL captures real emotions in their photographs, as a result their pictures turn out AMAZING.

On top of that, I don't know what camera/lens/filters they use but just look at the colors in their pictures. Pure awesomeness!!!! It's vintage, modern, romantic, the whole nine yards!

If you are a fan of good wedding photography, then you have to check them out .....just don't do it during office hours 'coz you might spend the whole day looking at wedding pictures from OLOL.
