Wedding Inspiration - Jakarta

Jakarta, Indonesia - Starting with a few cars and a little bit of rain... suddenly...GRIDLOCK!  On Monday, we drove for 2... wait... 2.5 hours just to go the 2KM distance from our office to the mall. At times we just want to b*tch about it but let's stay positive about it people. We've come to a conclusion a long time ago that despite the crazy traffic jam and even crazier drivers, we still love our home town. Like us in One Queen's Lane, we got inspired by the city. In the car, we feel that everywhere we look, we see the colour -- ORANGE. Orange in our Bajajs, our Metro Minis, our Busway, our Angkots, and now that we think about it, even our football team wears orange. I'd say... CUTESY!
And the inspiration that comes along with it...
Now, don't you love Jakarta now?

Wedding Shots Wednesday

After being stuck in traffic for 1.5 hours just to go about 1 km, I badly needed me a dose of beautiful wedding pictures!

These two pictures I thought are just SO creative. It might not be your conventional wedding picture, but for the photographer (Carla Ten Eyck) to be able to pull a picture like this, shows how talented she really is!

What do you guys think?

In the Nude

Gilles Mendel from J. Mendel came up with this all nude-colored line on New York Fashion Week. We thought his collection was simple, chic, and timeless. Some of the dresses are very wedding-y. Perfect for a bachelorette party, for an after party, for a pre-wedding photoshoot, for meeting with the vendors, for the bridesmaids, for the guests, for... for... other nude possibilities. J'adore!

Real Celebrity Wedding: Coco + James

Ladies! Here's a treat for you.
Coco Rocha's wedding is every little girl's dream wedding: A two-day event, set on a private, French Chateau Challain, wearing a custom Zac Posen wedding dress that fits you to the tee, great food, lovely wine, and most importantly, loved ones that are willing to fly across the Atlantic to see you marry the man of your dreams....Coco has got it all! She's one lucky lady, and James is one lucky man!

When we saw this video, our hearts melted. L-O-V-E the fact that they made it into a documentary type of wedding video. I think everybody should do that for their wedding video. And when the time comes, I sure as hell am gonna do my wedding video that way. Pure. Genius.

Oh and, the French Chateau Challain is actually rent-able for weddings. Be Still My Heart! Go to their website for more info.

Can I be her in my next life?

Have you ever heard of the term girl-crush? We think the best way to describe it is the sort of feeling associated with sole admiration and pure aspiration when you see someone stylish and pretty. In my case, I have a lot of girl crushes. One of them is Olivia Palermo. I love love love love her style! It has never ceased to inspire me, and she just has this ability to mix and match and it never fails!

Dear Kim, I'm sorry...

Hello world!

Just wanna check in with you and give you our thoughts on some really important thing... Hermes. This is the brand that we coveted for, the brand which we probably won't be able to get our firm grip on in near future since it is friggin expensive! :) But lookit! Kim Kardashian just spotted in Paris, carring a MEGA Kelly hermes...The bag probably cost at least USD10thou, but the money does not justify the looks. Seriously...the bag looks super super super weird! We think Kelly should always be a small to medium-sized bag.

FAILLL!!!

Take a note Kim, if you want a MEGA hermes, then buy Hermes HAC (Haut A Courroies) which is designed to fit a whole universe in it!

*DROOLLIIINGGGGGGGG*

Now if only we have money tree that grows forever, we'll fly to Paris and grab this beauty ourselves!

Inspiration Board - Greece Ελλάδα

Hmmm Greece, we heard it's lovely this time of year. We think, this place is one of the most magical places in the whole wide world. Imagine, ruins from Parthenon that was built in the year 431 BC still stand majestically until today. Can help but get inspired by the blue and white theme across the country. So here goes, be inspired!

dreaming of a perfect weather...

Jakarta has been dreary and rainy lately.
Made me think of a nice sunny spring day, perfect weather day, that I spent in London a few months back. The image below perfectly captures it all.

Inspiration Board - Chicago

as we are approaching end of year, I could not stop recalling my life moments in Chicago. The city is not as loud as New York or as hype as Los Angeles. It is kind of gloomy, unpretentious, old money glamour in a sense. We have decided to create an inspiration board based on a city theme, and here is our creative minds on the grandeur of Chicago wedding.

Wedding Bouquet - Alternative to flowers

This post is inspired by a friend that had her wedding a few months ago. She had arranged for gorgeous flower bouquets for all of her bridesmaids and pretty boutonnieres for her groomsmen. On the morning of her wedding day, it turned out that one of her three groomsmen was allergic to flowers....huh...whod've thunk! So, needless to say, she was left with one groomsmen without wearing a boutonniere...
This got us thinking, what if the bride herself was allergic to flowers? Does she need to sacrifice not having to carry a bouquet down the aisle?

One Queen's Lane is here to rescue! We found some cool and cute alternative to flowers that you can incorporate in your wedding. There a lot of alternatives to flowers, bouquets can be made out of decorative paper, ribbons, fabric and even brooches (Yes, there is a way to incorporate vintage brooches into your wedding, look here)! While brooch bouquets are a little extreme for our taste, we thought we would share with you the classic alternatives.

Believe it or not, all of the bouquets pictured below are made out of paper! Look how pretty it can be.

Shoes Shoes Shoes (part 2)

Just wanna add on to our post yesterday. This is one stunning pair of shoes that caught our eye while browsing a blog off our blogroll today. Randee by Badgley Mischka is oh-so-very-very-cute. The color, the style, the heels, love it all.

They even have it in other colors! HOO RAH!

Not sure where we can find Badgley Mischka in Jakarta yet. But try online stores such as Amazon, Piperlime, Endless as they do international shipping I believe.

Shoes, shoes, shoes

Brides to be, have you ever been confused about what type of shoes you would wear at your wedding? There are a lot of choices..but we are here to the rescue! We personally feel that, regardless of which type of wedding dress you wear, a sandal/ slingback is a perfect one-size-fits-all solution! We personally do not suggest wearing pumps on your wedding as it will look as too heavy, bulky and too serious for such a fun occassion!

Here are our suggestions, ranging from Rene Caovilla (personal favourite), Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin.

For those who live in Jakarta here are the list of places where you can possibly find these shoes:
Rene Caovilla search at On Pedder, Plaza Indonesia Level 2
Manolo Blahnik go to Harvey Nichols, Grand Indonesia East Mall
Jimmy Choo has 2 retail stores in Jakarta: Plaza Senayan Level 1 & Plaza Indonesia Level 1
Christian Louboutin has a retail store at Plaza Indonesia Level 1

 Enjoy!

Our first video post! Real Wedding - Jennifer & Erick

You might remember our first Real Wedding post of Jennifer and Erick's wedding posted here. They actually just got their pictures from their photographer - a little late, I know, that is why we are not mentioning his name here as he is the most unprofessional photographer!

We wanted to try to post a video and thought it would be great to post a photo clip of some of Jen and Erick's pictures from the photographer.

I love love love love - and did I mention love - Dave Matthews Band. They are pure geniuses and somehow their songs always give me the goosebumps especially this song titled "You & Me". The lyrics are so powerful and it's totally perfect for Jen and Erick's photo clip.

Sorry about the low resolution...due to a slow connection, I can't afford to upload the high resolution pictures since it'll take for-e-ver (no kidding).

Enjoy! :)

Bridesmaid dresses - patterns, prints, textures

Attention Brides-To-Be: we beg you to please NOT torture your bridesmaids by providing them with something horrendous to wear in front of all your honored guests at your wedding day so that you can still be the center of the attention. Don't be like those brides seen on 27 dresses. Your girlfriends have already sacrificed their time to be there with you - the least you can do is make them look pretty.

Most of the bridesmaid dresses I've seen usually have only one color tone with no patterns/prints/texture. While this is all good and dandy, we at 1QL love brides that dare to do something different. Can I just say how we LOOOOVVVEEEE the dresses found below, worn by real bridesmaids at real weddings dressed by real brides that are not afraid by how pretty her bridesmaids are going to be at her big day. To these brides - kudos! :)

As you can see, no matter what your wedding style is, whether it be classic/romantic/whimsical/fun/modern , there is always a way to dress your bridesmaids a little bit more creatively. As your best friends in the whole wide world, don't you think they deserve it ???
