Indonesians are Asians but not all Indonesians have Oriental eyes. People always relate Asian eyes with "single lid" or "no-crease" eyes. Prejudice aside, this statement is true in most cases. Since we are all uniquely created, there are numerous types of Asian eyes out there. We're talking about Lucy Liu's sultry cat eyes, Gong Li's out-of-the-bed dark eyes, and even our own Sandra Dewi's round and innocent looking ones. Rest assured, there's a make up style out there that will suit your beautiful Asian eyes.
In general, most Asian women prefer dark make up for their eyes -- dark shadow, dark mascara, and don't forget the unfailing dark liners. Dark colored tools do make an illusion of bigger eyes and that's why Asian women love it. Some prefer just to play with the liners; thick or thin as long as it makes them eyes POP! My ultimate tip though, always line the inside of your upper eye with a kohl black pencil liner, just below the lashes. This looks great for eyes with smaller lids but also those with a more distinct crease just to create more definition. For a variety, you could always try other dark liners like the ones offered by Chanel. 1QL loves Chanel's Stylo Yeux Waterproof - Long lasting eyeliner. Not only it offers a long-lasting effect all day, it also comes with the dark colors that are very suitable for Asian eyes. Try out Gris, Espresso, or Violine. L-O-V-E.
Eye shadows are just as equally important for any eye make up. For daytime look, apply a shadow that is just a bit darker than your skin tone. Something shimmery, not glittery, like gold or bronze is always welcomed. Christian Dior's 5 Color Eyeshadow in "New Misty Mauve" is a must have. Buy it now, like seriously. Although some might say that it's a bit pricey, but hey, you got 5 shadows that look good if combined together. Asian women could take advantage of this by applying the darker shade of shadow in the crease or if you don't have a defined crease, shyly apply 0.5 cm near to your eyes. Then blend with a lighter shadow. Use the lightest color under your brow line and just a bit in the inside corner of your eyes. Now, if you want, apply the dark colored shadow on your lower lash, a third in from you outside corner. Pair it up with black mascara (the well known pink and green Maybelline Great Lash) and black liner (Bobbi Brown's Long Wear Gel Eyeliner) and you're ready to go. This soft look is also good for brides. A useful shadow tip for Asian eyes, find a soft brown colored shadow, a few shade darker than your skin tone and make a smudged line to create a crease illusion starting from the outside corner of your eyes.
You could find good make up books out there and if it's more convenient for you, go find some make-up tutorials in YouTube. They are GREAT!
Our last word of advice, please avoid ice pink, ice blue, ice green, or anything icy. Pastel colored eye make up will make your Asian eyes look smaller and so 80s. Asian women should always go for medium to dark colors.
