Creative wedding ring pictures

We all know how important wedding rings are. They are the symbol of your love and marriage, it'll remind you of your love and commitment to each other. Here at 1QL, we feel that a wedding photographer should also understand that and be creative in taking pictures of the symbol of your love. Lighthouse Photography photographed my cousin's wedding and I must say that they are a couple of very dynamic photographers and it definitely shows in their photographs. Check them out!

We love these pictures by Lighthouse Photography because of their creativity and how they portrayed the most classic symbol of marriage with a very modern twist. Genius!

I personally think that this one is brilliant. You can clearly see that the background is Conrad Hotel's b-e-a-utiful chapel in Bali.

Real Wedding - Rick and Monica

A Sweet Mid-Summer Wedding

The wedding was held on a beautiful summer day at Dana Point, California; situated in an Orange County community, very near to Laguna Beach. I must say that the area was divine! I wish all of my friends would marry there so I'd have more reason to visit this faux Europe in the US of A.

Cannons Seafood & Grill was a modest restaurant that sat beside a cliff. Just look at the gorgeous view. Both the holy matrimony and reception were done on the patio area of the restaurant. The tables and chairs setting was re-arranged in about 30 minutes.To distract the guests, tapas were distributed around. There was also free-flow drinks of all kinds at the bar to keep the guests busy during the transition time. Around 100 guests came to celebrate with the bride and groom. The feel to the wedding was very laid back and sweet. Since it was summer and the sun was fierce that day, many guests took the opportunity to have a tan. So hilarious!

Events went on for almost 5 hours; during which, these things happened:

Joining of the sand
First of all the pastor poured gold-colored sand at the base of the jar as a representation of God as the base of the marriage. Pink sand for the bride and ivory sand for the groom, they poured the sand together into the jar signifying that 2 had became 1 and that nothing could separate them.

A dumb tradition of Rick's colleagues; they did this pyramid thingy at every wedding.











TAPAS!!
The food was an event on its own. Love it!











Decorations were very simple, cute flower arrangements were seen everywhere; on the tables as centerpieces, on the arch where the bride and groom made their vow, on the stairs, on the bed of the wedding cake, on the reception table, on the doors - oh so pretty. The florist also prepared a beautiful bouquet of pale pink peonies for the bride and hot pink little bouquets for the bridesmaids. Corsages for the suit lapels of the groom and the groomsmen were all very nice.



Details, details, details; look at these pictures below:
-The wedding cake was a masterpiece, it was not only pretty but it was also really delicious;
- Edible party favors in the form of chocolate-dipped monstrous strawberries; (Confession: I ate 3)
- Lantern by the entrance;
- and a Dessert station filled with popcorns, cupcakes, coconut balls, and the best cookies I'd ever tasted in my whole life.



Moving forward to the looks of the crew;

Monica was wearing a very light weight wedding dress, so light she could practically ran marathon in it. She paired it up with Jimmy Choo's shoes. They were not traditionally white, but had a silver/gold/ bronze touch to them. Monica always said she wanted shoes that she could re-use; good thinking! She also chose birdcage veil to the usual veil because it framed her face really well.Rick was wearing gray suit with pink tie while the groomsmen wore different shades of grey with yellow tie. The bridesmaids' dresses were also different shades of pink.




All in all, it was a successful and a beautiful wedding. Everybody had fun!

Lovely bridesmaid dresses

Now is the era of young designers trumpeting their fun and artistic innovation into the fashion whirlwind. We are aware of Jason Wu dressing up the first lady, Alexander Wang with his uber cool collection, but take a good note on Prabal Gurung. His spring 2010 collection, albeit still in the safe zone, offers a new and refreshing look on how a casual short dresses should be. We thought it's a spin on bridesmaid dresses, which is a cure to old-fashioned bridesmaid dresses, but promises to still not steal the bride's thunder.

Real Wedding - Jennifer & Erick

The day was December 6^th, 2009.

It was a windy, gloomy, drizzly day in Wimberley, TX. However, that did not stop this amazing couple to have their vintage & rustic Texan style wedding with a little bit of Indonesian touches in the details.

After living in Texas for a few years, both Erick and Jennifer wanted to have some Texas style incorporated in their wedding (read: outdoors in a ranch). Thus, with the hope that Texas has mild winters, they decided to have it at Red Corral Ranch with an outdoor ceremony and dinner reception. Unfortunately, two days before the big day, it snowed in Texas, dropping the temperature drastically. Nevertheless, they still went ahead with their original plan. The ceremony was held on a labyrinth that the owners of the ranch had built themselves and the dinner reception was under a big oak tree lit with Christmas trees. It was truly magical.

Jennifer and Erick were particularly creative of their wedding favor. With each favor there’s a tag that said "Monday mornings are hard enough without spending Sunday night at a wedding. Hope these make tomorrow a little easier. This coffee comes from Lampung, Erick's hometown in Indonesia and it's certainly one of the best coffees produced in Indonesia"

Despite the chilly temperature, the food from Salt Lick BBQ warmed the guests’ with so much yumminess at the dinner reception. After the chilly ceremony and dinner reception, everybody went inside the Big Red Barn to continue the party and desserts.

The dessert table was not your typical dessert table; instead, it was filled with traditional Indonesian cakes and a groom’s cake. Jennifer wanted to do something nice for Erick and she ordered a blue cake shaped like the number 3. Apparently, 3 is Erick’s favorite number as it was his basketball jersey number, he was the third child, etc.

Halfway through the party, the bride and groom had a wardrobe change into a traditional Indonesian costume called a ‘kebaya’ for Jennifer and a black suit for Erick. The dance party went well into the night with a special fireworks sendoff for the bride & groom.

We love this wedding for the immense number of details put in by the bride and groom and how they managed to incorporate both Texan and Indonesian styles and still managed
to make it their own. Congrats you two!

Talk about something sweet

Hey readers!

First and foremost, we are truly truly sorry for the super long hiatus! We are still on our early stage of setting this up and not to mention we are a regular human being (read: corporate slave) who are tangled in our own professional life. So please bear with us while we are finding our true soul in this blogging world :)

One thing that we are definitely not confused of is our love for weddings. Albeit how small or big, weddings always get us in our melancholy mood. Happy, sad, bittersweet, nervous; all those feelings are intertwined beautifully in one day where two lovebirds saying "I do".

So talk about something sweet...here at One Queen's Lane, we think nothing is sweeter than a wedding. Celebrating two people's love for each other in front of your closest family and friends (okay, sometimes this is not the case in Jakarta) is simply, as Giada de Laurentiis would say, de-light-ful!

I LOVE IT!

My Favorite Things - OST Sound of Music

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,
bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,
brown paper packages tied up with strings,
these are a few of my favorite things.

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels,
door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles.
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings.
these are a few of my favorite things.

Girls in a white dresses with a blue satin sashes,
snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes,
silver white winters that melt into springs,
these are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites, when the bee stings,
when I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
and then I don't feel so bad.

Although I am not a nun/governess nor have any interest in yodeling or singing all of my speech , I must say that Maria's favorite things sound good to me! Well, today's blog talks about my TOP 10 favorite things. Hope you can relate!

Not in a particular order, here they are, mon préférée:

1. Nothing beats a well-planned road trip with my girl friends listening to cool summer song like “Put Your Records On” by Corrine Bailey Rae, or Rock-ish beat like “Las Vegas” by INXS, or a classic tune like “Every Breath You Take” by the Police. Can we do it soon, girls? Pretty please?

2. On a more melancholic side, I looooooooovvvee seeing the tress change its colors. Really miss the feelings now that I live in a continent with “green” season all year long. Boohoo…

3. Smelling the aroma of coffee near the laundry room. Yea, weird! I don’t know, something about the smell of coffee and detergent combined. It’s like magical, like wasabi, can really opens up your nasal track and gives you that feeling down the memory lane. Try it!

4. Wearing clothes freshly out of the dryer. Me likey… it’s warm and comforting. Feels like sleeping late on a rainy day. Awww, don’t know I’m THAT romantic.

5. Capturing beautiful pictures with my camera, Estegon (short for Esteban Gonzales). That burly man can really take sweet pictures.

6. Breakfast in a farmer’s market. So, it’s 10 a.m., you haven’t took a shower yet, but you look great with your fresh face and scrunched up hair. So you pull up your leggings, plop in a worn-out t-shirt, slide in to your Amelia Earhart style leather jacket, and slip in to your riding boots. With just your paper and couple of bucks on your hand, you go inside a farmer’s market, order a hot cup of Java and a poppy-seed muffin. YUM! Doesn’t sound like me but I hope someday it does.

7. Ribbons... argh love ‘em much! The ones with the polkadots, the one with the checkered pattern, et cetera… et cetera… use them for your gift wrapping, for decorations, for your head. Cutesy!

8. Hampton’s style houses. Have you seen Meryl Streep’s and Alec Baldwin’s “It’s Complicated” or Jack Nicholson’s and Diane Keaton’s “Something’s Gotta Give”? Remember their houses? Mm.-hmmm that’s how my future crib is going to look like. Mark that… American Country style houses are the best. It’s like holiday every day in the house. Just staying in the kitchen gives me the ability to do anything; I think I’ll start with a big hearty full American breakfast or maybe a pecan pie. Mm…Let’s see when I actually get one.

9. Grooming is kinda fun. Basically putting YOU in order. Trim here… trim there… cut here.. cut there… wax here… wax there… OUCH! But, seriously, do a regular maintenance to yourself. You’ll feel great afterward, feels like you are worth it!

10. Watching Fashion TV while doing my runs. Those hot legs could really motivate me. Seeing their apparent ribs somehow compensates my excesses. Yea yea…

That’s it? I feel like I could pour 10 more of my favorite things. Speaking of which, did you see Kara’s bib necklace on American Idol’s Top 10 girls night? HOT!
